Laura found the STOTT PILATES® method while dancing with the California Ballet in San Diego, CA.  As a professional dancer, Laura has always been drawn to  movement, so pilates seemed to be the natural fit.  It was the anatomy and science behind the method that really got her hooked.  Laura received her Level 1 certification and training in 2005 at the STOTT PILATES® Licensed Training Center in San Diego.  In 2006 Laura moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she became an instructor for Inspire Health.  In 2007 she received her Level 2 certification.  While working at Inspire Health, Laura had the unique opportunity of working closely with physical therapists using the STOTT PILATES® method in the rehab and post rehab setting. This broad experience lends her the ability to work with people at any end of the spectrum, whether it be recovering from injury, managing pain, athletic training or anything in between.  In 2008 Laura became a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor Trainer and is now qualified to teach certification courses for Injuries and Special Populations, Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels.  Laura instructs STOTT PILATES® certification courses throughout the southeast.  In April of 2010 Laura and her family moved to Franklin, TN.  Laura is excited to be a part of building a STOTT PILATES community of clients and Instructors in the Nashville area.

Bertie originally discovered STOTT PILATES in 2003. She loved the way Pilates reduced mental and physical stress after a workday performing ultrasound, and at the same time transformed her deconditioned physical state. Pilates added many years to her sonographic career by addressing the imbalances and injuries created by repetitive motion.  With the onset of inflammatory arthritis, Bertie found pilates to be one of the only things that kept her moving safely and feeling better.In 2008 she was trained as a STOTT PILATES instructor in both Mat and Reformer and began teaching. Recently, she audited the training courses originally completed, refreshing her knowledge base and further enhancing her teaching skills. Bertie strives in her teaching to help her clients feel better at the end of their session than when they started it. She is excited to offer a positive environment and exercise modifications that allow each client, including those with inflammatory disease, to achieve and maintain their fitness goals in a safe and effective way. She completes her coursework this spring and will be STOTT PILATES certified in the summer.  Having experienced the confidence that comes from being strong, flexible and cultivating a mind body connection, Bertie is passionate about helping people of all abilities and body types experience the satisfaction that comes from a transformative Pilates practice!

Karen has been a healthcare professional for over 25 years and a Pilates devotee since 1999. Karen has held leadership positions with General Electric Healthcare, Medtronic, Hill Rom and SunCrest Home Health.  With experience in a variety of healthcare environments, Karen saw the clinical value of using Pilates to improve muscle strength without the same risk of injury that other exercise regimes had.  In her current position as apprentice instructor at Pilates Franklin, Karen works directly with clients to develop and implement an individual program to specifically meet the needs and goals of each client.  Karen holds a BS in Nursing from The University of Texas – Arlington and became trained in the STOTT PILATES® method in January 2015.  



Dawn Murry

Dawn is a native of New England and moved to Nashville from Bedford, New Hampshire in June of 2017. She is a certified STOTT PILATES Instructor and has been teaching Pilates since 2000. After teaching all types of group fitness for many years, Pilates became her true passion and she was STOTT certified in 2005 in Mat, Reformer, and Injuries & Special Populations in 2011. Dawn is an American Council of Exercise (ACE) Certified Group Exercise Instructor and holds additional certifications in TRX, Spinning, and Kickboxing.  Her work as a group exercise instructor and as a Pilates trainer has provided extensive experience training athletes as well as individuals with injuries or chronic conditions.  Dawn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and loves to “analyze” her individual client’s movement patterns and help them to improve their body awareness and proper alignment to reap the full benefits that Pilates has to offer!

She has 3 grown children and a husband that all enjoy the outdoors and are avid hockey fans.  


Melissa Crouhorn

Melissa’s background as a high performance athlete and dancer led her to Pilates to maximize physical capacity while simultaneously rehabbing physical imbalances and injuries. Her teaching philosophy focuses on precision and incremental gains per the individual. She recognizes that each body has a unique physical history; she seeks to empower the individual in creating a sustainable physical practice to live a holistically-centered life. She studied various dance, Pilates, circus, and somatic movement styles, and is a certified STOTT PILATES Instructor (Merrithew International). She previously worked at Boston Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Miami City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and The Joyce Theater in dance education. She holds a B.A. in Communication & Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech and an M.A. in American Dance Studies from Florida State University.

Jyl Ferguson

Jyl’s breadth of movement experience includes strength training, other somatic practices.. Her passion for health and fitness inspired her to begin her STOTT PILATES training in 2019 as an Apprentice Instructor. Jyl’s dedication for whole body strength shows in her focus to guide clients towards reaching their goals. Although a longtime Franklin resident, Jyl always represents her home state of Mississippi. When she’s not training at the studio, you can find her hanging with her two daughters or out for a power walk.
